Can you imagine what life in school was like a 100 years ago?  Many schools were small; often they had only one room. There was no running water and the heat came from a fireplace behind the teacher's desk. Windows were usually high so that the children could not see out and be distracted! Most of the work was done with chalk on a slate, because books and paper were very expensive.

Mt. Loafer Elementary school students have been celebrating the 100th day of the school.  Poor Mrs. Bradley's class; I am sure that attending school in the 21st century was quite a culture shock for them!  We are glad we didn't live 100 years ago.
