Award Winners at Central Utah Science and Engineering Fair

Science Fairs are all about getting kids excited about learning.  Paisley Bills, Bree Riding, Rebekah Jensen, Bree Hendry, Stockton Haskell, Eli Adamson, and Kyler Holman  demonstrated their excitement and knowledge at the Central Utah Science and Engineering Fair (CUSEF) hosted at BYU and were award winners.

Ken Garff Reading Winners Announced!

Reading is very important to Mt. Loafer Students and it showed in the number of tickets that were to be drawn out for the Ken Garff bike and for the $50.00 college savings certificate for reading!  This term the winners were Kate Bonny, who won the bike, and William Ewell, who won the $50.00 college savings certificate!  Great job to all you Grizzlies who are reading!

 

Salzburger Echo Comes to Mt. Loafer!

The students at Mt. Loafer enjoyed a wonderful assembly presented by, Salzburger Echo!  Salzburger Echo presented “Music of the Alps,” using a wide range of unusual instruments.  Their folk music originated from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.  They played instruments such as the twelve-foot alphorns, Swiss cowbells, and yodeled as well.  Some of the teachers even got involved playing, “It’s A Small World!”  It was a great assembly!

 

New Rug for Mt. Loafer Library

The library at Mt. Loafer received a beautiful new rug, thanks to the Hughes Family.  Pictured in the middle of these students is Creighton Hughes, who is a 3rd grader and who with his family, has made our library a wonderful place to enjoy reading!

 

Arbor Day Contest Winners Announced

Mt. Loafer participated in the Arbor Day Contest and had many wonderful entries.  The theme for the contest was, “Trees are Terrific and Need Our Care.  The winners of the contest are, Sam Spencer-4th Grade, Mari Paxton-3rd grade, Kyla Bingham-6th grade, and Katie Farley-5th grade.  Congratulations to these great artists!

 

First Grade Puppet Show!

Once upon a time each spring, the first grade students study fairy tales. During the unit they learn about the elements that make a fairy tale, they compare and contrast popular fairy tales, learn of characters and morals, create puppets and retell the fairy tales through song and voice to the parents.  The students really enjoy it and...they live happily ever after. 

 

Fancy Footwork From the Fourth Grade!

The fourth grades students and their parents had a fun-filled evening dancing to old time pioneer dances!  This night was a special occasion for the students to share with their parents all the fun dances and songs they have learned this year.  The students dressed up in western attire and stomped around the gym, showing off their fancy footwork!  The fourth grade teachers want to thank the parents who came and supported this activity!

 

Mt. Loafer...A Pretty Great Place!!!

We would like to recognize Bruce Moon, Cheryl Woodruff, Teri Peck, Becky Clark, and Sherry Kester.  These individuals are our custodian and lunch ladies.  They provide an important  role in keeping our school in excellent condition. They are a hard working group of employees who strive on a daily basis to improve Mt. Loafer Elementary.

PI DAY!

In Sixth Grade, today, the students celebrated Pi Day!  March 14, 2013 marks the annual Pi Day, 3.14!  Mrs. VanLeeuwan and Mrs. Gwynn centered the whole day around fun activities using 3.14.  The students found the circumference of a circle, made a circle, made circles from rectangles, and finally, the best part of the day was eating real pie!
