Science Has Never Been This Much Fun!

Submitted by angela.killian on

Mt. Loafer's teachers know that students learn best "by doing" - especially in the sciences.

Club Day involved students from K-6th in hands-on activites and each science club was different; rocketry, chemistry, flight, genetics, geology, and many other disciplines of science.  All the clubs were designed to capture children's natural curiosity, stimulate their interest in science and teach them important science topics along with critical thinking skills.

Honoring All Who Serve

The signing of the World War I Armistice took place in a railway coach near the battle zone in France. The bugles sounded cease fire and the hostilities ended, marking a most significant moment in world history.

While Veterans Day is primarily a tribute to Americaʼs living veterans, and is typically observed more as a celebration than as a somber remembrance (Memorial Day), it is always appropriate to include a moment of respect for those who gave their lives for our country.

Hats Off to Our Heroes!

This week, students had the opportunity to celebrate Veteran's Day.  In honor of our heroes, the students were invited to wear hats to say, “Hats Off to Our Heroes!”  The students also had a bulletin board where they could write the name of their hero and tell why that person is special to them!  Thanks to all those heroes in our lives!

Books For Teachers!

Submitted by larraine.nelson on

Thanks to our wonderful PTO, the Mt. Loafer teachers were able to receive new books from the Book Fair for their classrooms!  The PTO set up a wonderful Book Fair and made $3,100.00.  Six-hundred dollars of that was used for books for teachers' classrooms.  The rest of the money went to purchasing books for the library.  Thanks to our great PTO for helping to promote reading at our school!
