Parent Newsletter 10/21/19

Welcome to last week of term 1! We are excited to see you at our first parent conference this Thursday, November 24th. If you have not heard from your individual child’s teacher, need to change a time to meet or reschedule all together please contact them as soon as possible. It is imperative that we make a contact with each parent to celebrate the successes of their student and we do not want anyone to miss that chance.

Upcoming items of interest:

Halloween Parade & Class Parties, October 31stWe will continue our tradition of a costume parade in the school. The Halloween parade will be at approximately 9:15am. We kindly ask parents to line the gym/lunchroom and the main hallways as we will parade around the school for each other. Please note that students will be lining the hallways around the pods and their classroom doors to watch their peers as well. It does get a little cramped for space during this time so your patience is appreciated. As a reminder, no bloody, gross, disgusting costumes, or anything that displays violence, such as guns, knives, etc.  Also, no masks at all, not during the parade or at any time during the day.  Faces may be painted, but again, nothing bloody or gory.

Class parties will be scheduled through individual teachers and PTO Room Parents. If you have questions/concerns please contact your child’s teacher.

Pick up and Drop Off: We continue to have some problems with parents parking in the pick up/drop off area. We remind you again to please not park in this area before or after school. If you need to get out of your car for any reason we kindly ask you to park in a marked parking stall and come in to the school. If there is an empty space in front of you while you are waiting to pick up or drop off your students we also ask that you continue to pull forward, filling the void in space. This will also help us not block the crosswalk. Please note that the pick up/drop off lane is a single deep lane. The other portion of this lane is for a pull-through only. Do not stop or park in the pull through lane. Enter in the South end of the lane and exit from the North. In keeping to this procedure will help keep the flow of traffic moving along so we do not back up into the street more than necessary. Thank you for your help in keeping our students safe in this particular area before and after school.

Thanksgiving Food Drive 11/4-8:  Tabitha’s Way has reached out and asked us to participate in their annual Thanksgiving basket food drive. The Salem area elementary schools have been tasked with collecting canned pumpkin and canned sweet potatoes. This collection will take place  Nov. 4-8 and will be a direct benefit to families in our own community. Your support is greatly appreciated.
