Parent Newsletter 3/4/19

*District Minimal Day- TODAY, March 4th. All students will be dismissed at 12:00PM. Teachers will attend professional development training this afternoon.

*Parent Teacher Conferences this Thursday, March 7th. Please let your teachers know if you will not be able to attend this conference so they can make alternative conference times or communicate all information necessary for student progress. A HUGE shout out to our PTO for providing the dinner for our faculty and staff for all three parent conferences this year. This is such a great treat and celebration for our teachers.

*If you are missing coats & hats you may be able to find them in our school lost and found. It is getting quite full and we invite you to come rummage through it to find what may be yours. We will be donating all unclaimed items after Parent Conferences on March 7th.

*Final Box Tops Drive! Our awesome PTO will hold our final Box Tops Drive for the school year the week of March 13-15. They will be exchanging 10 box tops for popcorn and prizes at lunch so start collecting and let your kiddos SPEND them on goodies and prizes this week. A special Thanks to all our parents who help us raise funds through our Box Tops drives! This is a great way to help our school out in providing reading incentives and other small prizes all year long.

*SPRING FUNDRAISER March 18-22. In the upcoming weeks your children will be bringing home a fundraiser envelope. This year we will be collecting funds to go toward school technology. 100% of funds will go directly to classrooms and students and are tax deductible. We appreciate your support and are excited to put more audio, chromebooks, iPads, etc. in the hands of your children. We will have a classroom competition and the class with the highest percentage of returned envelopes will get donuts and chocolate milk with the principal! If you would like to pay in just one envelope but have multiple children, please indicate this on all your envelopes and return them with your students so they will count as a returned donation!

If you have any questions please feel free to call the office and we will happily help you.

*Wheeled Shoes- Please help us in keeping our school safe and do not send your students to school in wheeled shoes. We have had several incidents where students slip & fall or run in to one another. In the future, if students have wheels on their shoes we will ask them to remove them or call home for a new pair of shoes.

*Pick-Up/Drop-Off: We are having a few issues on our South pick-up and drop off. Sometimes people are parking on the curb past the last parking stall on the south side. This makes it very hard to maneuver through the circular space and disrupts the flow of traffic. Please do not park on the curbs. We also ask that you do not leave your car unattended in either locations for pick-up/drop-off. I also ask that you be cautious as you motion your students to your cars. We have had children dash into the drives between cars to get to their parents' car on the other side. Please wait to have your kids enter your car until you are on a curbside where they may not cross traffic to get in, We have a great system on the South side, and it helps relieve traffic on the North side. On both ends please ask your kids to wait on the sidewalk until their car moves up to a safe pick up point.

Your assistance on these matters will help us keep kids safe during this very hectic time of pick-up and drop-off!

*End of year testing begins the week we return from Spring Break. April 9th will be the beginning of our RISE Testing in grades 3-6.  Teachers will be testing over the course of several weeks.  Your child will not be testing every day, however, it is imperative that he/she is at school, reviewing and/or testing.  If your child is going to be absent during this testing period, please notify your child’s teacher so he/she can make arrangements for alternate days of testing.  First and Second grades will be testing April 23-May 11th, and the Kindergarten Assessment will be May 21-25.

Be sure to check your teachers emails as well as the school website for information concerning grade level events in April & May. It is a busy time of year and we will do our best to communicate information out to you effectively.
