*Salem Pond Town Invitational Track Meet #2 Will be Wednesday, May 1st. Our 5th& 6thgrade students will compete at SHHS with their peers from the other Salem area schools. Students will board the buses at 9:00am, please be sure they are on time as we need to start the actual meet by 9:30am so we can be back to Mt. Loafer by 2pm. Parents are invited to attend and sit on the grass field on the inside of the track. (see the schedule of events on the Pond Town post on our website). Students need to bring their lunch (if signed up for a home lunch), water bottle, sunscreen and any other appropriate items. If you choose to take your student home we need you to sign them out with their teacher at the track meet. District policy is that we can only release students to their own parents, you may not take another student home with you. We hope to see many of you there!

*Woodland Hills Drive Closure: Beginning May 6th, Woodland Hills Drive will be closed off to bring all of the utilities across Woodland Hills Drive to the new Valley View Middle School, this will mean traffic will be rerouted around and through various areas. I wanted to make you all aware that traffic may increase around our school while the road is closed, as well, short delays could be possible compared to current drive times. Our Transportation Department has been made aware but I wanted our patrons to know about this also. Woodland Hills Drive is expected to be closed for approximately 15 days.

*Mt. Loafer Library News: All library books need to be returned by Friday, May 3rd.  All students with overdue books, should have received a notice with the information, along with the cost to replace the book if it has been lost.  Could you please help them locate and return any missing or overdue books.

Thank you, Chris CarterMt. Loafer Librarian

*Salem Library News: Salem Library presents Children’s Book Week April 29-May3! Special story time for the whole family. Monday 6:00pm, Tuesday 1:00pm, Wednesday 6:00pm, Thursday 6:00pm, Friday 4:00pm

*Each spring, some parents like to provide input for a specific teacher or special student placement consideration for the following school year.  Although this practice is not encouraged, I recognize the desire many parents have to be involved in this aspect of their child’s education. If you have an extreme circumstance or feel very passionately about your student’s placement for the 2019-2020 school year our window for such will be May 13-17th. In order to provide input you must come in to the school and fill out a form. These forms cannot be taken from the office and no forms will be accepted after the 17th. Absolutely no input will be taken after this date and no emailed input will be considered as well. On the form you will sign that you acknowledge that input will be considered but not guaranteed in making the lists. This is your consent and understanding that creating classes for 800 students is an undertaking and one we do not take lightly. Many hours of consideration and thought are poured into student placement and all factors taken in to account. I thank you in advance for helping make this input window one of support so that all students at Mt. Loafer have a wonderful experience in the years to come.
