Nebo School District’s fifth-grade students had the opportunity to participate in the “Walk for Life” project designed by Spanish Fork City, the Spanish Fork/Salem Chamber, and American Legion. Over 1,200 students in 13 elementary schools were invited to the May 17 and 18 educational day. Students were educated at eight different stations where Veterans shared stories of their service.
Heidi Harris joined Mt. Loafer as a young intern ready to make a difference in the lives of her students and has held strong to that vision over the last few years. Heidi is the exact type of teacher you want your child to have in their life. She is positive, driven, and supportive of all of those around her. Heidi has gone above the call of duty by leading our student council, overseeing our technology in our building, and helping anywhere she is needed. Heidi is most definitely a team player and an all around asset to Mt.
Parents, As we approach the end of the school year, I am excited to make you aware of a free summer program for pre-Kindergarten students called Upstart. Upstart is a free, technology-delivered kindergarten readiness program that will give your child a fun start in reading, math, and science (with a focus on reading) in just 15 minutes a day, 5 days a week. I invite you to look at the attachment for details. Feel free to forward this to any family you know with a child who will be starting kindergarten in the next year or two. Thank you and have a wonderful summer!
The Mt. Loafer/Salem Orchestra did a fantastic job in their spring concert! These students have worked so hard to develope their skills. Hours and hours of practice each week. They meet at 8:00 serveral times a week to work hard and blend their beautiful sound together. Make sure to sign your students up for next year!
The 3rd grade is so grateful that they could attend the Tulip Festival at Thanksgiving Point. This is was all made possible by two companies. First we like to thank Thanksgiving Point for giving us a scholarship to get into the Tulip Festival. Second, we would like to give a huge shout out to Jimmy John's. They are a wonderful local comapny that not only donated the money to pay for buses to Thanksgiving point, but also provided us with a great lunch for all who went. The students had a great time seeing some of the wonderful sites, and also the scavanger hunt.
Congratulations to the following students selected as April's Super Learners of the Month! These Students were chosen because of their excellent academic and citizenship performance in our ten Focused Learning Skill areas. We appreciate each of you demonstrating your super powers at Mt. Loafer.
