Walk-a-thon Reward Assembly!

Submitted by jodi.mckee on

The gym was not quiet as students cheered on the red and green bubble ball soccer teams!  Students went to a lot of effort to benefit Mt. Loafer....they walked, collected donations, and brought donations back to school quickly!  As a reward for all that hard work, Mrs. Killian provided a fun assembly where students cheered on teacher bubble ball teams!  So far, $4,300 has been earned by students from the walk-a-thon and more is expected to come in next week.

Reading = Healthy Fun!

WE LOVE TO READ AT MT. LOAFER!  Reading helps students prepare themselves for their own futures.  This year, students who helped themselves by reading at home, were rewarded with a day of healthy active fun!  Readers enjoyed swimming, raquetball, basketball, and climbing at the Provo Rec Center.

Utah Lake Learning!

Fourth grade completely loved a day of learning at Utah Lake.  If you teach the lessons provided by the Utah Lake Commision, you can qualify for a free field trip payed for by Utah Lake Commission.  Scientists take a day off to spend it teaching students about the science and history of Utah Lake.  Usually the buses for a field trip are paid from by parent donation at the beginning of the year.  In 4th grade, all of that goes to field trips.  By the end of the year the generously donated funds are depleted.

As families and friends watched, Mt. Loafer 5th grade students joined more than 6,000 fifth-grade students from 70 Utah County schools for the 19th annual Hope of America Student Showcase at the Marriott Center at Brigham Young University. All eyes were on Mt. Loafer Elementary 5th grade students, along with Mrs. Robin Brown, Mrs. Callie Naccarato, and Mrs. Rhonda Brady, as they performed on the floor of the Marriott Center. WOW!
