Friday, February 24th, Mr. Don Applegate's and Miss Beth Duvall's sixth-graders transformed the gym into a poetry cafe.

Sitting at round tables,  sixth graders read original poetry to inspire their peers and parents.  After each reading, students snapped their fingers.

The setting was reminiscent of a coffeehouse.  Instead of drinking coffee, students and parents snacked on cookies and drank chocolate milk after the readings.

For the past month, students have been immersed in poetry.  Throughout their learning, they also have been given time to apply their understanding of the poetic devices by writing their own creative poems. The students shared their poems at this special event.
