Masa Fukuda, a music composer and arranger well-known in the USA and Japan, spent the day at Mt. Loafer Elementary on Thursday, April 19th, 2012.

Mrs. Robin Brown, Mt. Loafer Elementary's music teacher, invited Masa to visit and inspire students by sharing his journey to becoming a very sought after composer and arranger.  Robin Brown has worked personally with Masa Fukuda for years in Studio A children's choir and One Voice Children's Choir.

Masa began composing music at the age of four, his first piece titled, "Lonely Winter."  He knew at a very early age that he wanted to pursue his love of music and composing and is now inspiring children to also pursue their love of music.

Masa Fukuda conducts the One Voice Children's Choir.  The One Voice Children’s Choir was formerly known as the 2002 Winter Olympic Children’s Choir. Their theme song, It Just Takes Love, was featured on the Olympic CD “Light Up the Land,” along with Gladys Knight, Brooks & Dunn, SHeDaisy, Donny Osmond, and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Many of the singers who recorded for the CD also volunteered as “children of light” during the Opening and Closing Ceremonies. Masa Fukuda, the composer of It Just Takes Love, established what is now known as the One Voice Children’s Choir.

Masa's choir has received many awards in the recording industry, including the prestigious John Lennon International Music Award, presented by Yoko Ono and George Martin of the Beatles. They were invited guest performers at the reception for Dick Cheney in 2001. They have toured in Japan and sung at the 60th Anniversary Peace Ceremony in Hiroshima in 2005.  Mrs. Robin Brown, along with Masa Fukuda and the One Voice Children’s Choir,  hosted the In-Harmony Children’s Musical Festival held in Salt Lake City, 2008.

He has composed and performed with Jackie Chan, David Archuleta,  Kurt Bestor, Donny and Marie Osmond, Jenny Jordan Frogley, Jericho Road, Alex Boye, Jessie Clark Funke and many more.

Mt. Loafer students also shared their talents with Masa.  Sixth grade students sang, "Reach For You," a song written and composed by Masa.  First grade students sang in Japanese, "Japanese Rain Song."

Thank you, Mrs. Brown, for helping students find their talents and having the courage to pursue them!
