The Doctor is IN

Today I visited Mrs. Mecham's class to find "Dr. Mecham" at the front of the room demonstrating how contractions work.  She invited JD up to be her surgeon's assistance in the process of "operating" on words.  Together they cut out letters that were not needed when two words are put together to make a smaller "contracted word".  The best part was when she compared the apostrophy to a scare in surgery.  "It reminds you that something was once there."  I know students in Mrs. Mecham's class will remember what a contraction is and will use it in their own writing.
