Can you believe that Kindergarten has been in school for 50 days?  Mt. Loafer Kindergarten celebrated with a fifties theme day on this 50th day of school.  Poodle skirts, slicked back hair, leather jackets, white t-shirts, scarves, and ponytails could be seen up and down the Kindergarten hall. Everyone had a swinging good time!

6th grade students in Mr. Applegate's and Miss Duvall’s classes have been exploring things out of this world. Stop number one was the moon. Students went on a tour of the moon with Astronaut Buzz Aldrin (the second human to step foot on the moon), looked at notable geographic features, and found out about several of the important missions to the moon.  Stop number two took the students to the stars. Each student had the opportunity to get a close of view of the stars and to gain an understanding about how stars were grouped into constellations.

The Grizzly Buck Store will be Friday, November 4th.  Hopefully all students have been able to reach the grade level reading requirement.  Each student has the potential of earning three bucks; one for reaching the grade level requirement, an additional buck for each hundred minutes beyond the goal (limit of three).

The Book Fair was a HUGE success!  Thank you for supporting our school through the PTA Book Fair.  The PTA was able to purchase books for classrooms and the teachers are very grateful.  We also want to thank Whitney Ferguson and her committee for running the Book Fair.  It takes many, many hours to pull off what they did and we are truly appreciative.

Mt. Loafer Elementary is having a food drive November 1st-November 22nd.  Each student who donates a can of food will get one ticket.  The student on each grade level who earns the most tickets will  throw a pie in Mrs. Rudd's face at our Gobble Contest on November 23rd.  Get ready to "cream" Mrs. Rudd!!!

Mt. Loafer 4th grade students received a visit from BYU athletes.  The athletes throughout the BYU athletic department are contributing to a culture of service. Community outreach has always been a part of Cougar athletics and during October they visit area elementary schools to promote the "Buff Don't Puff" program, an anti- smoking campaign as part of the Red Ribbon Week. 

Compound words may seem like an easy task and it is if you are in Miss Kerr's class.  Miss Kerr taught them how to make a compound word by giving each child part of a compound word then asked them to walk around the room and find their match.  As students roamed and read the two words together they found their match and went to sit with their new partner on the rug.  Miss Kerr highlighted each group by asking them to read both words to make the new compound word.  So fun!  Once they finished their lesson they got to go back to their seats and create their own compou

The student of the month program is meant to promote success in and out of the classroom.  The student of the month is chosen based on character, leadership, and citizenship, not necessarily academics.  The student of the month must be a diligent student, completing his/her assignments on time, showing strong effort to learn the subjects.  The student of the month demonstrates excellent behavior inside and outside the classroom, is well-mannered, and respectful to peers and teachers.  The student of the month displays excellent citizenship by his/her willingness to help

Red Ribbon Week is the nation’s oldest and largest drug prevention program in the nation reaching millions of Americans during the last week of October every year. By wearing red ribbons and participating in community anti-drug events, young people pledge to live a drug-free life.
