Super Heroes use their SUPER STRENGTH to SAY NO to drugs, alcohol, and tobacco. Look at all the super heroes at Mt. Loafer!!
Fourth-, fifth-, and sixth-graders have an opportunity to participate in the school’s robotics club, an after-school STEM program. Not only does it allow each student’s creativity to blossom and teach technology and engineering, but it provides critical thinking and team-building skills.
Can you guess the grade in which each MASTERPIECE was created? Mt. Loafer teachers have been trained by experts and it shows in the creations produced by students!
Every teacher at Mt. Loafer Elementary, is committed to weaving the arts and curriculum together to create a richer and more lasting learning experience for students. Mt. Loafer sixth grade is currently learning of the Ancient Egyptians. Take a peek at their beautiful watercolor pictures of Ancient Eygptian Profiles!
On Friday, September 18th, the wonderful aroma of applesause wafted through the first grade halls! Life was real "sweet" for the first graders as the teachers found a fun way to combine science, writing, math, reading, p.e., and art.
"Wow! I was so impressed the the quality of comments made by your students at Mt. Loafer," said Mr. Parkinson after presenting an assembly teaching students about internet safety. We love our students and are grateful they have been well taught at home about proper internet practices. Students added to that knowledge today from an excellent presentation from NETSMARTZ. Our goal is to prepare our precious students to live safely in this world as well as the 'world wide web'.
Fifth Grade students love science at Mt. Loafer! Four powders all look alike..... BUT, as Mr. E from Discovery Garden Children's Museum showed students, they do not all act alike. Why, well it's all because matter matters and chemicals that look alike react differently. Students loved the hands on learning experiences that taught them about physical and chemical changes and also solids, liquids, and gases.
We, the People of Mt. Loafer..... love our constitution! Students have learned interesting facts about our constitution in preparation for CONSTITUTION DAY on Thursday, Sept. 17. For example, did you know that President George Washington and congress established the first national Thanksgiving Day on November 26, 1789. The reason for the holiday was to give “thanks” for the new Constitution. A flag with the pictures of all the citizens of Mt. Loafer will remind students of our constitution as they pass by it.
When, where, and what was Camp Floyd? Fourth Graders can tell you. Back in 1861 one third of the Union army was stationed at Camp Floyd Utah. Fourth grade students learned how to make adobe bricks, dip candles, follow orders as part of the army, and work as a pony express rider.
