The First Grade Students traveled to the North Pole on the Polar Express! Along the way they drank hot chocolate, watched a little bit of the Polar Express, and sang fun Christmas songs! Thanks to Mrs. Bradley, Mrs. Olsen, Mrs. Kilgore, and all the parent helpers who worked so hard to make this a fun Christmas journey!
The Mt. Loafer Orchestra performed a wonderful Christmas Concert. They have been working hard, practicing early in the morning before school even begins. The director of the orchestra is Mandy Bartholomew, and we want to thank her and the students for sharing their fine talents to help us get ready for the Christmas Season!
Wednesday was a special day at Mt. Loafer! Santa Claus made a special holiday appearance to wish the students a very Merry Christmas! The students were singing around the Christmas tree when Santa came bounding in, dressed all in red from his head to his feet! The students had a wonderful time singing with the help of Mrs. Olsen and Mrs. Bradley! Today was also the day to wear your ugliest sweater, and you can see by the picutres, some students went all out!
HAPPY HOLIDAYS, MT. LOAFER!
Mrs. Turner's Fourth Grade Class performed the play, "A Christmas Carol," by Charles Dickens. They have been working extra hard this holiday season memorizing parts and singing songs for the play. They preformed the play for different classes throughout the week and the students loved watching the fourth-graders. Thanks to Mrs. Turner and her students!
Salem City asked the students at Mt. Loafer to help make Christmas special this year by creating beautiful luminaries for the Salem City Cemetery. Many students went to work with Mrs. Bluth, our Art Specialist, to make these special lanterns that will light up the cemetery on Christmas Eve. Thanks, Mt. Loafer Students!
Mt. Loafer had a spectacular Christmas performance presented by the fourth, fifth, and sixth grade classes. Robin Brown, our wonderful music teacher, directed the concert. She conducted the students singing Christmas songs, playing music on their recorders, and dancing with fluorescent pictures with a black light! The students did a fantastic job and it helped us get ready for the holiday season!
The First Graders had a great time making gingerbread houses to celebrate the holiday season! They decorated their houses with all sorts of colorful candy and frosting! We appreciate the first grade teachers for all their hard work and we especially want to thank all the parent helpers who came and helped the first grade students with their Christmas creations!
Mt. Loafer Elementary students got a real treat, Friday, going to the Fifth Grade Wax Museum! The fifth grade students researched famous people who have made a difference in history. They wrote reports about the person they chose, collected artifacts that represented what that person stood for, and came dressed as that person. The students and teachers went to a lot of work for this activity and we learned many fun facts about some pretty famous people!
