Mt. Loafer fifth grade joined with over 6,600 fifth grade students from seventy-eight Utah schools who came together in red, white, and blue to form the American Flag.  Students celebrate America's freedom through song and choreography.  (Mt. Loafer students are dressed in yellow at the top.)

Parents and Pastries!

We were thrilled to see so many parents come to the school and support Parents and Pastries!  This special event sponsored by the PTO gives parents the opportunity to come and read to their child, or be read to!  Everyone gets a special treat….reading and eating!  We also appreciate the Book Fair that is going on at our school!  Our PTO works hard to make our school the very best!

Just Like Clockwork!

Mrs. Sanders knows that when students work, discuss, and write together, they have more opportunities to verbalize their thoughts, get reactions from others to their thinking, and help students who do understand to cement and even extend their understanding.  All students benefit.

After watching this lesson, I want to know where Ruthie and Sara do their shopping? Classic!

Wanta' peek inside Miss Simmons first grade?  Her students are reading to partners because reading with someone else encourages students to try reading books that may be above their usual reading level, while also building oral skills so that students are more comfortable with their reading.  What great readers!

SHHS Soccer Comes To Second Grade To Read!

Submitted by larraine.nelson on Thu, 04/03/2014 - 14:34

The Salem Hills Soccer Team came to Mt. Loafer and spent time with the second grade students, not playing soccer, but instead, reading books to the students!  The Skyhawk Kickers showed students their love for reading and let the students do a little reading themselves! We appreciate Coach Gillie and the soccer team for taking the time to show students how important it is to ALWAYS read!
