Mt. Loafer Lifeskills...UNITED, In The Climb

Submitted by angela.killian on

This year Mt. Loafer Grizzlies are going to be United in our climb to success.  Our character education is going to focus on lifeskills.  Lifeskills is Mt. Loafer's effort to equip students to face the realities of life and make responsible, informed choices - to think creatively and critically, and to act responsibly.  This dimension of education will focus on universal values such as Caring, Common Sense, Compassion, Cooperation, Courage, Curiosity, Effort, Flexibility, Friendship, Initiative, Integrity, Organization, Patience, Perseverance, Pride, Problem Solving, Resourcefulness, Respect, Responsibility, and Sense of Humor.

Learning to do the right thing, the next best thing, is a habit of mind marking true excellence, the plus on the A we want students to earn.

We are going to begin a caring connector tradition for students - Mt. Loafer United Families.

Mt. Loafer United Families will be school-wide, we want to expose the children to the goodness of others by creating empathy.  Families will be a heterogenous cross grade level group K-6th grades.  Families will meet monthly to create a feeling of belonging and acceptance.  We want all to feel approved of, appreciated, and respected by others.

Our first Mt. Loafer United Family meeting will take place on September 20th.  More information to come.
