The bobsled competition is in the books at the 2014 Mt. Loafer Winter Olympics.  Team Bradley-McKee-Jenkins was able to bring home an impressive win.

Let The Games Begin!

Mt. Loafer teachers were going for the Gold!  They got into the spirit of the Winter Olympic Games, competing for gold, silver, and bronze in the curling, bobsled, and biatholon events!  Students were also treated to an exhibition figure skating program in between events. 

 

 

 

 

 

Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader?

Walking through the cafeteria at Mt. Loafer Elementary School on Friday, February 21st, a visitor might not have felt smarter than a fifth-grader.

The room was filled with experiments for the annual science fair, ranging from can you bounce an egg, can electricity come from rocks or air, and does doodling make you listen better.

The Arts Matter!

Mt. Loafer teachers are learning creative ways to integrate the arts into the curriculum in order to enrich learning for every child. The arts open doors to creativity. They nourish critical thinking. 

Take a peek at the tornadoes fourth grade students are painting.  They are studying weather and integrating arts into their science and writing lessons. 

Teacher of the Year-Mrs. Mecham

We are so excited to announce that Mrs. Mecham, our awesome 2nd grade teacher, has been voted as our Teacher of the Year!  Mrs. Mecham has been a second grade teacher for 16 years at Mt. Loafer.  She is loved by all her students as well as all the faculty and staff!  Mrs. Mecham is a wonderful teacher, a great team player and always so willing to help and support other teachers.  We can’t say enough great things about Mrs. Mecham and all the wonderful things she does here, at Mt. Loafer.  Congratulations, Mrs. Mecham!

 

The Olympics at Mt. Loafer!

Sochi has come to Mt. Loafer…or at least the student council is trying to bring it here!  Our student council has planned some fun activities to celebrate the Winter Olympics.  Some of the students have been going to classrooms to share some fun facts about the Olympics and some of the Utah Olympians!  We hope you are all enjoying the exciting events that are happening in Russia!  Thanks to the Student council for their hard work with each class!

 

100th Day in Kindergarten!

The 100th Day of school in Kindergarten was a very special one!  The students were very surprised to see that their donuts grew on their 100th day of school!  The students also made fun hats, badges, and glasses.  They topped it off with 100 treats for everyone.  It was a happy 100th Day for all!

A Visit From Staff Sergeant Jeff Tomlinson

Mrs. Spencer's 6th Grade Class had the privilege of a visit from one of their student’s dad, Staff Sergeant Jeff Tomlinson.  Tugg Tomlinson's dad has been serving in Afghanistan for the past year and just recently returned home.  He shared stories and events that happened while there.  The students enjoyed what he shared with Tugg's class. Thanks, Staff Sergeant Tomlinson!
