My name is Lauren Sweeney. I was born and raised in a small town in
Northeast Iowa but now I live in Provo, Utah with my husband. I
studied Elementary Education at Brigham Young University and this is
my first year teaching! I've wanted to be a teacher my whole life and
I'm so excited to start off with such an amazing 5th grade class in
such an incredible school! In my free time I love to watch movies, try
new restaurants, talk with my friends, and do art projects! My
favorite subject in school is writing, and I'm even writing my own
THANK YOU Mt. Loafer families! Because of your generosity we were able to exceed our goal and raise $1,567.13 to send to a sister school in Texas to buy supplies and materials they need to get their school back on their feet.
We are so proud of our Grizzly Sloth and the example they are to others! It truly is great to be a grizzly!
With Hurricane Harvey being such a heartbreaking disaster, the students wanted to reach out and help other elementary aged students in Texas because many have lost all their school supplies and schools. We want to come together as a school community to help school children affect by Hurricane Harvey. To do this we are going to designate Wednesday September 6th as "Helping Hands for Harvey Day"! We are going to ask that students bring $1 and dress as a "Texan" (western/cowboy attire) on this day.
My name is Emily Grace Hoppes. I grew up in Alabama, but moved to Mississippi when I got married two years ago. My husband and I then relocated to Utah in January and have loved our time here. I graduated with my bachelor’s degree in 2015 from the University of Alabama and will be completing my master’s degree in Middle Level Education from Mississippi State University very soon.
This is my first year teaching and I am honored to begin my career with this special class and school. I have an awesome group of fourth graders and I am so excited to spend this year at Mt. Loafer!
